OCU drops tight fit with Randall 70-67

Stars hit 11 3-pointers on the night

MOORE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University fell to Randall 70-67 on Tuesday night at Randall Activities Center.
Eddie Smith, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., missed a 3-pointer that would have tied it up in the final 10 seconds. Smith supplied the Stars with a season-high 17 points. Oklahoma City, receiving votes in NAIA Division I men's basketball, is now 5-2 on the season. 
Smith was one of two Stars in double figures. He also added two assists and two steals. Kealon Clayborne had 14 points. Clayborne, a junior from Cedar Hill, Texas, provided OCU with two assists while sinking four 3-point attempts. Rashaun Coleman finished with nine points. Coleman, a junior from Houston, also grabbed two rebounds
Anthony Davis scored seven points off the bench for the Stars. Davis, a senior from Lewisville, Texas, collected a team-high eight rebounds. OCU held a 22-18 advantage in bench points and a 24-21 advantage in points off turnovers.
Oklahoma City built its largest lead at 39-34 after hitting three buckets in a row. Coleman connected on two layups. OCU went on a scoring drought in the first seven minutes of the second half. Davis made the Stars first field goal of the half with a 3-pointer at the 13:01 mark. 
Randall built an 11-point lead during the span. The Stars brought it back to within one on another Davis trey with 12:17 left to play. Smith tied it up later on with a pair of free throws to square it up, 66-66, with 2:33 left. OCU missed their final three shots from that point forward, including Smith's 3-pointer at the very end.
OCU will play its home conference opener versus Panhandle State at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 at Abe Lemons Arena.
