OCU competes at Red River Cross Country Shootout

Welch records top time for Stars

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Oklahoma City University men's cross country squad had six runners compete at the Red River Cross Country Shootout on Thursday afternoon.
Paul Welch, a freshman from Piedmont, Okla., finished with the top time at the meet, recording a 27 minutes, 9.7 seconds in the 8,000-meter race. Welch, running his second 8K at OCU, cut over 50 seconds off his time from the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 21.
The Stars were the only men's squad to compete at the event.
Noah Seto, a sophomore from Elk Grove, Calif., came in second with a personal-best time of 27:59.8, while Cabe Killingsworth, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., followed in 28:11.5.
Sophomore Joseph Engel, from Oklahoma City, finished in 28.20.5, also a personal best. Other Stars that competed include Richard Bolt (29:18.5) and Zander Rossiter (32:03.5).
Oklahoma City will return Oct. 26 at the NAIA Mid-State Classic in Winfield, Kan., before the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships in early November.
