THE MATCHUP

• Oklahoma City University gets back into Sooner Athletic Conference play against USAO
• The Stars' contest against Mid-America Christian originally set for Thursday has been rescheduled for Jan. 29 at Abe Lemons Arena
• USAO's game vs. Southwestern Christian originally scheduled for Thursday has been moved to Jan. 22 in Bethany, Okla.
 
ABOUT THE STARS
• The Stars stomped Wiley (Texas) 92-47 on Monday at Abe Lemons Arena. OCU (11-1, 4-0 SAC) held an opponent to below 50 points for the sixth time and under 30 percent shooting from the field for the seventh time this season
Abby Selzer, a 6-foot-2 freshman from Thomas, Okla., posted a season-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds in 19 minutes on New Year's Eve. Selzer hit her first seven field-goal attempts, going 10-for-13 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Selzer provides OCU with 16.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.67 blocked shots a game. Selzer leads the NAIA with a 73.3 percent field-goal percentage
Taylor LaCour, a 6-1 senior from Georgetown, Texas, supplied the Stars with 10 points with a game-high eight rebounds. LaCour registers 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest with a 51.1 percent field-goal percentage
Mallory Lockhart, a 5-7 freshman from Keller, Texas, added 10 points for her ninth consecutive contest with double-digit scoring. Lockhart averages 12.0 points and 2.0 rebounds a game. Lockhart ranks sixth nationally with 3.17 treys per game
• The Stars lead NAIA Division I in field-goal percentage defense (27.8 percent) and defensive rebounds a game (34.3). To see how the Stars rate among NAIA Division I statistically, click here
• OCU maintained the 10th spot in the most recent NAIA Division I top 25. Oklahoma City extended the NAIA's longest streak of top-25 appearances to 248 consecutive rankings dating back to 1997-98. OCU has made 24 trips to the NAIA Division I Tournament and captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars picked up the second spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. Oklahoma City took its 18th SAC regular-season championship and 12th SAC Tournament title last season. OCU has won or shared nine of the past 11 league titles, going 204-20 (.911 winning percentage) within SAC play since 2007-08
• Oklahoma City cruised past USAO 89-63 for its 12th SAC Tournament championship March 3, 2018 in Siloam Springs, Ark. The Stars nabbed their second consecutive conference tournament crown and third in four years
• OCU has gone 55-4 against USAO over the years. USAO won 76-62 on Feb. 2, 2018 in Chickasha, Okla., for the Drovers' first win over OCU since Feb. 6, 1992 in Chickasha, Okla.
 
ABOUT THE DROVERS
• USAO held off Rocky Mountain (Mont.) 59-56 on Dec. 21 at Phoenix in the Phoenix Frontier Classic. Amanda Gibson hit free throws for USAO (6-6, 1-3 SAC) with 13 seconds left as Rocky Mountain whittled down the Drovers' 16-point first-half lead
• Reyna Ammons, a 5-6 junior, had 17 points and three steals. Ammons averages 14.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.58 steals a game
• The Drovers rank sixth nationally with 32.0 defensive rebounds a game
• SAC coaches predicted USAO to finish fourth in the SAC in the preseason
 
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (93-18, fourth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to 28-6 season with the SAC regular-season and tournament crowns in 2017-18
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth with three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
• He has an overall record coaching college women of 115-65, notching his 100th career win in a 78-53 victory at Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Feb. 23, 2018
 
Darrick Matthews (52-47, fourth season with USAO)
• Collected 2018 John Hudson SAC coach of the year after directing USAO to a 29-6 record and its first SAC regular-season title, sharing the conference crown with OCU last season
• Overall head-coaching record stands at 70-66 including one season at Southwestern Christian, where he led the Lady Eagles to a fourth-place finish in the 2015 National Christian College Athletic Association Division I Tournament
• Began his college playing career at Oklahoma Christian, then transferred to the University of the Southwest (N.M.), where he became an all-conference performer playing for Quinn Wooldridge, who would eventually become an OCU assistant. Matthews completed his college career at McMurry (Texas)
