Stars wallop Wayland Baptist

Bjelobrk tops OCU with 18 kills

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University toppled Wayland Baptist (Texas) 25-16, 25-23, 25-14 on Friday night at the Hutcherson Center.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, propelled Oklahoma City with 18 kills and nine digs. The Stars moved to 12-2, 7-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
OCU's Lacy Beeler, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., collected 14 kills and eight digs, and Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., accumulated 42 assists and nine digs.
Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, picked up 15 digs, while Isabel Harwell, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., contributed 12 digs and two aces for the Stars. Ella Lofton, a sophomore from Cedar Park, Texas, added nine kills and two digs, and Caitlin Bosarge and Michelle Krenowicz each had five digs.
In the second set, OCU rolled up six consecutive points to break an 18-18 tie. Lofton triggered the run by smacking a kill, and Harwell added an ace. Beeler nailed a pair of kills to get the Stars to set point.
The Stars take on Panhandle State at 1 p.m. Saturday in Goodwell, Okla.
