OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dispatched of Mid-America Christian 25-16, 25-12, 25-11 on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Lacy Beeler, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., spearheaded OCU with 13 kills, five digs and four blocks. The Stars moved to 11-2, 7-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, posted 12 kills and three digs, and Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., produced 24 assists, nine digs and two kills for OCU.
Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, collected 12 digs and four assists, while Isabel Harwell, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., racked up nine digs for the Stars. OCU's Ella Lofton, a sophomore from Cedar Park, Texas, contributed seven kills, six digs and three blocks, and Kenady Bertling, a freshman from Baytown, Texas, recorded five blocks. Olivia Nutter, a freshman from Plano, Texas, chipped in four blocks.
In the first set, OCU pulled away with five points in a row. Bjelobrk and Lofton smacked kills to help the Stars go up 20-14.
The Stars closed out the second set by scoring the last 10 points. Bjelobrk had three kills, while Lofton knocked down two kills and teamed with Bertling on a block during that OCU splurge.
Oklahoma City opened the third set by tallying the first six points. Bjelobrk sparked the Stars with back-to-back kills. Beeler added a kill while combining with Bertling on a block.
OCU has won 23 of its last 24 matches and 39 of its past 41 contests within conference play. Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) halted the Stars' winning streak in SAC competition at 17 on Sept. 14 in Waxahachie, Texas.
Oklahoma City takes to the road for a 7 p.m. contest against Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Sept. 28 in Plainview, Texas.
