Stars smack USAO

OCU move to 5-0 at Abe Lemons Arena this year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 25-17, 25-11, 25-20 victory over USAO on Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., spurred OCU with 12 kills, seven assists, four digs, three blocks and two aces. The Stars moved to 10-2, 6-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Sophia Salak, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, tallied 25 assists, eight digs and two aces, and Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, picked up 10 digs for the Stars.
OCU's Caitlin Bosarge, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., collected nine digs and three aces, while Olivia Nutter, a freshman from Plano, Texas, pounded seven kills. Kenady Bertling, a freshman from Baytown, Texas, contributed six kills and five blocks, and Hanna Nicholson, a junior from Choctaw, Okla., added six kills and three digs.
Isabel Harwell
, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., provided the Stars with eight digs, and Ella Lofton, a sophomore from Cedar Park, Texas, chipped in five kills, six digs and a block.
Oklahoma City built a 22-14 first-set lead on the strength of a 5-0 run. Horton crushed three kills, and Nutter nailed two.
Horton served up back-to-back aces to put the Stars in front 13-3 in the second set.
In the third set, OCU broke an 11-11 tie with five consecutive points. Bertling hammered a kill and teamed with Horton on a block. Harwell chipped in an ace, and Nicholson pounded a kill.
The Stars continue SAC play with a 7:30 p.m. match vs. Mid-America Christian on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
