OCU pair grabs SAC player of week awards

Hermes takes SAC defender of week after posting 30 digs

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Lauren Hermes and Taylor Horton earned Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week awards.
Hermes reeled in defender of the week, while Horton collected setter of the week as both collected their first players of the week honors for the Stars.
Hermes, a junior libero from The Colony, Texas, posted 5.77 digs per set with a 1.000 service percentage. She provided OCU with 33 digs against Southwestern Christian and 27 digs against Texas Wesleyan. Hermes joined the 30-dig club, supplying the 15th 30-dig performance by a Star. Dani Chase was the last OCU player to pile up 30 digs Oct. 3, 2017 vs. Southwestern Oklahoma State.
Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., dished out 116 assists during three conference matches for OCU, including a season-best 47 against Texas Wesleyan. She finished the week with 43 total digs, 14 kills and six aces, averaging 8.92 assists, 3.31 digs and 0.46 aces a set.
