KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 25-12, 25-20, 25-18 victory over Avila (Mo.) on Saturday in the Avila Classic at the Mabee Fieldhouse.
The Stars suffered their first loss of the year 25-23, 25-19, 27-25 to Presentation (S.D.) on Saturday. OCU completed the weekend 5-1 this season in volleyball.
Against Avila, Marijana Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, totaled 15 kills, two blocks and one ace, and Ella Lofton, a sophomore from Cedar Park, Texas, collected 11 kills and seven digs for Oklahoma City.
Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., piled up 35 assists, five digs and two kills, while Lacy Beeler, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., added 10 kills, eight digs and two aces for the Stars. Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, accrued 16 digs.
Against Presentation, Beeler provided OCU with 10 kills and 14 digs, while Lofton knocked down 10 kills.
Hermes contributed 14 digs, and Horton accumulated 18 assists and 11 digs. Bjelobrk chipped in eight kills, while Sophia Salak dished out 14 assists.
Oklahoma City meets Langston at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Langston, Okla.
