• Oklahoma City University squares off with Wayland Baptist (Texas) in a matchup of top 10-ranked teams in NAIA Division I women's basketball and two of the top teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference
• OCU seeks its first win inside the Hutcherson Center since an 80-78 victory Feb. 12, 2015
• The Stars look to avenge a loss to Wayland Baptist from earlier this season
ABOUT THE STARS
• OCU reached 20 victories for the 20th consecutive season with an 87-66 stomping of Panhandle State on Thursday in Goodwell, Okla. The Stars (20-4, 13-2 SAC) have a 607-80 record (.884 winning percentage) since 1998-99
• Daniela Galindo, a 5-foot-10 senior from Shattuck, Okla., stuffed the stat sheet with 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists and six steals. Galindo accumulates 20.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.83 steals a game while shooting 45 percent from beyond the 3-point arc
• Brooke Irwin, a 6-3 senior from Mustang, Okla., turned in 18 points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals. Irwin picks up 12.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.22 blocked shots per contest
• Nationally, the Stars sink 77.7 percent from the free-throw line to rank third in the NAIA. Michaela Kay, a 5-8 junior from Spokane, Wash., fires in 49.2 percent of her 3-point shots to rank second among the NAIA. To see how the Stars rate among NAIA Division I statistically, click here
• OCU holds the fourth spot in the most recent NAIA Division I top 25. Oklahoma City extended the NAIA's longest streak of top-25 appearances to 243 consecutive rankings dating back to 1997-98. OCU has made 23 trips to the NAIA Division I Tournament and captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars have been installed as the favorite to win the Sooner Athletic Conference in the preseason coaches poll. OCU took its 17th SAC regular-season championships and 11th SAC Tournament title in 2016-17. The Stars have won or shared seven of the past eight SAC regular-season titles with a 157-13 mark (.924 winning percentage) in league play during that span
• Wayland Baptist dealt the Stars a 66-57 setback Jan. 18 at Abe Lemons Arena. Irwin powered OCU with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Wayland Baptist ended OCU's 20-game winning streak in SAC play and 28-game homecourt winning string. OCU went to 38-24 against Wayland Baptist in the all-time series
ABOUT THE FLYING QUEENS
• Wayland Baptist breezed past Central Christian (Kan.) 95-59 on Thursday in Plainview, Texas. The Flying Queens (19-3, 12-2 SAC) erased a 27-24 second-quarter deficit by unleashing a 17-0 run
• Maci Merket, a 5-10 junior, posted 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Merket averages team highs with 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.60 steals a game
• Wayland Baptist holds the sixth spot in the latest NAIA rankings
• The Flying Queens lead NAIA Division I with a 1.26-to-1 team assist-to-turnover ratio
• SAC coaches predicted Wayland Baptist to finish third in the league in the preseason poll
• Wayland Baptist became the first women's college basketball program to reach 1,600 victories in an 88-79 win over Texas Wesleyan on Nov. 30 in Plainview, Texas
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (74-15, third season with OCU)
• Led Stars to 34-2 season, accruing 2017 NAIA Division I and Sooner Athletic Conference coach of the year awards
• Overton has coached three all-Americans while at OCU, including Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth, three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
Alesha Ellis (107-39, fifth season with WBU)
• Wayland Baptist handed Ellis her 100th career win in four-plus seasons as head coach a 65-39 win over Panhandle State on Jan. 15
• Ellis has led Wayland Baptist to four consecutive appearances in the NAIA Division I Tournament. In her first year as head coach, Ellis led the Flying Queens to a 20-12 record and a trip to the national tournament for just the second time in a decade
• Ellis took Lubbock Christian High School (Texas) to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Class 3A state championship prior to becoming the Wayland coach
