Stars take aim at 20th consecutive 20-win season

THE MATCHUP
• Oklahoma City University looks to notch 20 wins for the 20th consecutive season in a road contest at Panhandle State

• The Stars leave home for the first of three consecutive away contests
• OCU visits Panhandle for the first time since collecting a 61-56 win Feb. 9, 1988

ABOUT THE STARS
• Oklahoma City rallied past Mid-America Christian 85-73 on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars (19-4, 12-2 SAC) dominated the third quarter, outscoring Mid-America 21-8. OCU shot 9-for-15 from the field and held the Lady Evangels to 2-for-16 shooting from the floor in the period to overcome a 42-41 halftime deficit
Daniela Galindo, a 5-foot-10 senior from Shattuck, Okla., posted 28 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, ringing up 24 points by halftime. She notched her second double-double this season. Galindo produces 20.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.68 steals a game

Taylor LaCour, a 6-1 junior from Georgetown, Texas, supplied OCU with 13 points and three assists. She sparked the Stars with seven points in the third quarter. LaCour averages 12.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest
• Nationally, the Stars rank third in free-throw percentage (77.1 percent) led by Galindo's 85.4 percent free-throw shooting, which ranks fourth in the NAIA. To see how the Stars rate among NAIA Division I statistically, click here
• OCU holds the fourth spot in the most recent NAIA Division I top 25. Oklahoma City extended the NAIA's longest streak of top-25 appearances to 243 consecutive rankings dating back to 1997-98. OCU has made 23 trips to the NAIA Division I Tournament and captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars have been installed as the favorite to win the Sooner Athletic Conference in the preseason coaches poll. OCU took its 17th SAC regular-season championships and 11th SAC Tournament title in 2016-17. The Stars have won or shared seven of the past eight SAC regular-season titles with a 157-13 mark (.924 winning percentage) in league play during that span

• Oklahoma City pummeled Panhandle State 74-48 on Jan. 20 at Abe Lemons Arena in the first meeting between the two teams since Dec. 9, 1995. Galindo topped 1,000 career points with 26 points that day. OCU improved to 4-0 against Panhandle State

ABOUT THE AGGIES
• Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) dealt Panhandle State a 73-58 loss Saturday in Waxahachie, Texas. Panhandle State (12-9, 4-9 SAC) managed 32.3 percent shooting from the field
• Madison Dearmin, a 5-10 senior, turned in a season-best 25 points to go with 10 rebounds. Dearmin collected her team-high seventh double-double of the season. She records 13.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game

• Addison Munsch, a 5-7 sophomore, leads Panhandle State in scoring (16.3 points a game) and assists (2.6 a game). Munsch added 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks Saturday
• The Aggies rank 18th in the NAIA allowing opponents to shoot 35.5 percent from the field
• Panhandle State was picked to finish ninth in the SAC in its first year in the conference
 
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (73-15, third season with OCU)

• Led Stars to 34-2 season, accruing 2017 NAIA Division I and Sooner Athletic Conference coach of the year awards
• Overton has coached three all-Americans while at OCU, including Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth, three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
 
Victor Esparza (first season with Panhandle State)
• Elevated to the head-coaching position after serving 2016-17 as assistant to Charles Terry
• Previously served as head basketball coach at Raton (N.M.) High School
• Panhandle State alum who spent seven years as assistant men's basketball coach and became head men's and women's cross country coach
