Contest matches two of the top three teams in SAC

THE MATCHUP

• Oklahoma City University visits Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) in a crucial Sooner Athletic Conference matchup
• The Stars enter the game tied atop the SAC standings, while Southwestern Assemblies of God stands a game back of OCU and Texas Wesleyan
• Icy weather forced the postponement of OCU's games at Southwestern Assemblies of God and against Texas Wesleyan. The Stars finish the regular season vs. Texas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Sunday at Abe Lemons Arena

ABOUT THE STARS
• Oklahoma City overcame Southwestern Christian 112-92 on Feb. 15 at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars (21-6, 13-5 SAC) sank a season-high 60.3 percent of its shots from the field to post consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time since 2006-08. OCU collected a forfeit vs. St. Gregory's in a game originally scheduled for Feb. 17
Ivan Saicic, a 6-foot-7 senior from Belgrade, Serbia, registered season bests with 27 points and nine assists while hitting 10 of 13 field-goal attempts and 7 of 8 free-throw shots. Saicic provides the Stars with 10.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists a contest
Ridell Camidge, a 6-4 senior from Wilmington, N.C., accumulated 25 points and eight rebounds while knocking down 5 of 9 3-pointers. Camidge has rung up 22.4 points a game the past nine games. Camidge records 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game with a 44.1 percent 3-point shooting clip. Camidge ranks fourth in the NAIA at 3.44 treys per game and fifth with 86 3-pointers in 2017-18

• The Stars went to 12th in the most recent NAIA Division I top 25. Oklahoma City has made 23 NAIA Division I Tournament appearances and won six national championships in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008
• The Stars have been picked to finish second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference according to the preseason coaches poll. OCU owns 12 SAC regular-season titles and nine SAC Tournament crowns
• Southwestern Assemblies of God sank Oklahoma City 91-81 on Jan. 4 at Abe Lemons Arena. Camidge led the Stars with 15 points and four 3-pointers. Southwestern Assemblies of God has a 6-4 lead in the all-time series

ABOUT THE LIONS
• Southwestern Assemblies of God held on for a 93-90 win over Bacone on Feb. 17 in Muskogee, Okla. Dareny Sims had six points in the final 36 seconds to aid the Lions (20-8, 12-6 SAC)
• Sims, a 6-3 sophomore, tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Sims averages 8.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.85 steals per game. He ranks 18th in the NAIA in thefts per contest
• Cameron Hill, a 6-foot freshman, leads the team with 15.3 points a game
• The Lions, who received votes in the last national poll, top the NAIA with 321 steals and 12.35 steals a game
• SAC coaches put Southwestern Assemblies as the sixth-best team in the league in the preseason

MEET THE COACHES
Vinay Patel (56-28, third season with OCU)
• Patel collected his second HoopDirt.com coach of the week honor for Dec. 4-10
• Patel has guided two OCU all-Americans, including the Stars' first first-teamer since 2008; the 2017 Sooner Athletic Conference player of the year, the 2017 SAC co-defensive player of the year, a finalist for the Dark Horse Dunker competition, six all-conference performers and three academic all-SAC choices
• Before coming to OCU, he spent one season as Rogers State's assistant coach and aided the Hillcats to a 20-8 season led by the conference player of the year
• Patel spent nine years as assistant before serving as the head coach at West Texas A&M. During that time, West Texas went to the NCAA Division II Tournament five times, won the Lone Star Conference championship and took two Lone Star South Division titles

Delton Deal (first season with Southwestern Assemblies of God)
• Came to Southwestern Assemblies of God after leading York (Neb.) to a 137-88 record in seven years
• Deal took York to the NAIA Division II Tournament three times, advancing to the 2016 tournament quarterfinals. York won the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title in the school's first season in the league in 2016-17
• Deal directed Fort Worth Bethesda Christian (Texas) to the 2007 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class 3A state title and a 97-28 record in four years
