OCU takes 93-84 loss to Langston

Stars drop conference opener

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University suffered a 93-84 setback to Langston on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Chris Williams, a senior from Denver, topped the Stars with 23 points. Oklahoma City, ranked fifth in NAIA men's basketball, dropped to 5-2, 0-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Williams added four rebounds and two steals. Joe Clarke, a senior from New Rochelle, N.Y., supplied the Stars with 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, and Trae Bryant, a junior from Wilmington, N.C., totaled 15 points while making all eight of his free-throw shots.
Mark Howell, a senior from Grand Prairie, Texas, turned in 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field for OCU. Elijah Christman, a senior from Justin, Texas, and Anthony Davis, a junior from Lewisville, Texas, each pulled down a team-best nine rebounds.
Langston (8-0, 1-0 SAC) took advantage of OCU's season-high 25 turnovers. Jorori Coleman led Langston with 35 points and eight rebounds while hitting all 15 of his free-throw attempts.
Clarke sank a free throw to give the Stars a 25-16 advantage at the 7:58 mark of the first half. OCU scored six unanswered points as Bryant nailed a 3-pointer, then Williams dropped in a lay-in.
Langston reeled off a 7-0 to go up 38-32 late in the period. Coleman hit a trey and two free throws to key the Lions.

Williams tied the game 47-47 early in the second half with a 3-point play. Tyrone Killings Jr. responded with a 3 to put Langston back in the lead. The Lions kept the advantage the rest of the game. Howell's layup cut OCU's deficit to 84-80 with 3:26 to go.
The Stars face Central Christian (Kan.) at 4 p.m. Saturday in McPherson, Kan.
