Stars sails past Panhandle State

OCU move to 10-0 at Abe Lemons Arena this year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped Panhandle State 25-10, 25-13, 25-12 on Friday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, spearheaded the Stars with 19 kills and 11 digs. OCU went to 26-3, 16-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., produced 30 assists, one kill, two aces and 10 digs, while Lacy Beeler, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., supplied Oklahoma City with eight kills.
Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, reeled in 21 digs for OCU, and Isabel Harwell, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., added 10 digs and two aces.
In the second set, Oklahoma City rang up 12 consecutive points. Bjelobrk crushed five kills, while Taylor Horton collected five assists during the Stars splurge. Bjelobrk pounded a kill to cap the run and put OCU in front 22-10.
The Stars squares off with Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
