OCU cruises past Langston

Stars remain unbeaten at home this year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped Langston 25-12, 25-11, 25-23 on Tuesday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Isabel Harwell, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., furnished OCU with a season-high 17 digs. The Stars moved to 16-2, 11-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Lauren Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, collected 15 digs and four assists, and Marijana Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, posted nine kills and five blocks for the Stars.
Oklahoma City's Kenady Bertling, a freshman from Baytown, Texas, produced seven kills and six blocks, while Taylor Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., accounted for 13 assists, six kills, four digs and two blocks. Sophia Salak, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, added 10 assists and six digs.
Bjelobrk led OCU in taking a 7-0 first-set lead. Bjelobrk tallied two kills and combined with Bertling twice on blocks. Bjelobrk tacked on three more kills during a set-clinching 7-0 run.
Lacy Beeler's kill gave the Stars a 20-8 second-set advantage.
OCU overcame a 15-12 third-set deficit. Down 19-17, the Stars nudged ahead of Langston with three consecutive points. Olivia Nutter teamed with Bjelobrk and Horton on blocks to help the Stars regain the lead.

The Stars face Central Christian (Kan.) at 5 p.m. Thursday in McPherson, Kan.
