OCU wins twice in Eutectics Classic

Stars collect 11th consecutive win

ST. LOUIS – Oklahoma City University continued its winning ways in a 25-13, 25-17, 25-10 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Friday night in the Eutectics Classic at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Gymnasium.
The Stars knocked off Saint Mary (Kan.) 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 on Friday afternoon. OCU ran its winning streak to 11 matches while moving to 19-2.
Against Saint Mary, Lacy Beeler picked up her eighth double-double of the year with 12 kills and 16 digs for the Stars. Marijana Bjelobrk added her third double-double of 2018 with 10 kills, 14 digs and two aces, while Ella Lofton knocked down 10 kills.
Lauren Hermes scooped up 18 digs, and Isabel Harwell added 12 digs for OCU. Taylor Horton turned in her fourth 40-assist performance of the year with 43 assists, three blocks and three kills, while Olivia Nutter chipped in five blocks.
In the late match, Bjelobrk, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, produced 11 kills and two blocks. Bertling, a freshman from Baytown, Texas, pounded eight kills, and Horton, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., handed out 17 assists to go with five digs.
Beeler, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., and Hanna Nicholson each had seven kills, while Hermes, a junior from The Colony, Texas, snagged 18 digs for OCU. Sophia Salak accumulated 13 assists, and Nutter, a freshman from Plano, Texas, had six blocks.   
OCU meets Cumberland (Tenn.) at 9 a.m., then faces St. Francis (Ill.) at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Eutectics Classic.
