OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University posted a 25-18, 25-16, 25-15 victory over Mid-America Christian on Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars landed 11 aces to reach double figures in that category for the third consecutive contest. OCU improved to 7-5, 5-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Lindsey Grace and Sanja Vojnovic served up three aces each, while Dani Chase and Stefani Nell added a pair of aces each for Oklahoma City. Michelle Krenowicz added another ace for the Stars.
Nell and Marijana Bjelobrk nailed nine kills apiece. Vojnovic, a senior from Bajeljena, Bosnia, accumulated 34 assists, eight digs and three kills, and Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., tracked down 22 digs.
Grace, a senior from Edmond, Okla., picked up 11 digs, while Holly Randall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., added seven kills and two blocks for OCU. Beeler, a freshman from Jenks, Okla., topped the Stars with three blocks.
In the first set, OCU gained separation from Mid-America with six consecutive points to go up 21-15 and break a tie. Grace recorded a couple of aces, while Beeler, Nell and Randall knocked down kills.
In the second frame, Randall hammered a pair of kills to key a 6-0 OCU run that gave the Stars an 11-5 lead. In set No. 3, Chase had two aces during an 8-0 splurge that put the Stars up 10-3 on the way to clinching the win.
The Stars take on USAO at 7 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
