Eldredge of Stars finishes in top 10 of Stewart Memorial

Sophomore from Eufaula, Okla., ends 11 shots off individual pace

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Melissa Eldredge of No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University finished tied for eighth in the Missouri State/Payne Invitational on Tuesday at Twin Oaks Country Club.
Eldredge, a sophomore from Eufaula, Okla., finished two strokes back of a top-five finish and fell to leader Michaela Fletcher of Memphis by 11 strokes with a 71-77-75–223. Oklahoma City, tabbed as the No. 1 team in NAIA women's golf, ended the tournament in 13th place.
Behind Eldredge was senior Savannah Moody. Moody, from Aledo, Texas, turned in a 75-79-74–228 to finish tied for 28th.
Oklahoma City had an overall score of 310-315-315–940. OCU finished four strokes behind William Woods (Mo.), ranked seventh in the NAIA.
Emma Allen, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., posted an 81-76-83–240. Other Stars who competed were freshmen Clair Hill (83-83-83–249) and McKenzie McCoy (85-86-83–249).
OCU golfers playing unattached were Arianna Medina (83-85-79–247), Loren Matrone (82-85-84–251) and Regan McQuaid (90-85-85–260).
The conditions on the course featured temperatures in the high 50s that rose to high 60s in the afternoon with winds that blew 5-15 with gusts up to 23 mph.
OCU plays next in the Washington State Cougar Cup at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course on Sept. 18-19 in Pullman, Wash.
