Stars look for third straight win on Saturday

THE MATCHUP
• Eighth-ranked Oklahoma City University gears up for a conference road game against No. 18 John Brown (Ark.) on Saturday at Bill George Arena
• The Stars enter Saturday's contest on a two-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight
• OCU leads the all-time series between the two programs 47-5

ABOUT THE STARS
• Oklahoma City (8-2, 2-0 SAC) edged past USAO 65-58 Wednesday night at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars were just 1-of-11 from 3-point range at the half but bounced back to go 4-of-8 from beyond the arc in the second half, pulling away from the Drovers midway through the fourth quarter
Daniela Galindo, a 5-10 senior from Shattuck, Okla., had her fourth consecutive game of 27 or more points in Wednesday's win. She poured in 30 points, five rebounds and five assists against the Drovers. Galindo leads NAIA Division I women's basketball in total scoring with 235 points and is third in points per game with 23.5
Taylor LaCour, a 6-1 junior from Georgetown, Texas, had 15 points and nine rebounds against USAO – one rebound shy of recording her second double-double of the season. LaCour averages 12.6 points on 47.3 percent shooting and grabs 6.9 rebounds per game
• The Stars rank fourth in NAIA Division I women's basketball in 3-point field goal percentage (41.3), eighth in defensive rebounds per game (30.8) and ninth in overall field goal percentage (46.6)
• OCU moved to eighth in the NAIA Division I ratings released Tuesday. Oklahoma City has made 23 trips to the NAIA Division I Tournament and captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017. OCU appeared in the rankings for the 240th consecutive time since 1997-98 for the NAIA's longest such streak
• The Stars have been installed as the favorite to win the Sooner Athletic Conference in the preseason coaches poll. OCU took its 17th SAC regular-season championships and 11th SAC Tournament title in 2016-17
• Oklahoma City defeated John Brown 78-59 on Feb. 9 at Abe Lemons Arena in the most recent outing between the two programs. Daniela Wallen had 30 points and eight rebounds while Galindo had 22 points, four steals and three assists in the win

ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
• John Brown (7-3, 2-0 SAC) comes off a dominant 92-58 win over Central Christian (Kan.) on Tuesday in McPherson, Kan. The Golden Eagles jumped to a 23-7 lead after the first quarter and held Central Christian to 29.7 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from 3
• Baily Cameron, 5-10 junior from Siloam Springs, Ark., leads John Brown in scoring with 15.6 points per game and ranks 18th in NAIA Division I in field goal percentage (55.1). Cameron had 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block against Central Christian
• The Golden Eagles enter Saturday's game as the best 3-point shooting team in NAIA Division I women's basketball. They rank first in 3's made per game (11.6), total 3's made (104) and in 3-point field goal percentage (43.2). John Brown also ranks second in Division I in assists per game (22.0) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4)
• John Brown was selected to finish in second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference according to the preseason coaches poll. The Golden Eagles made it to the Round of 16 in the 2017 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship and finished last season 23-9

MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (62-13, third season with OCU)

• Led Stars to 34-2 season, accruing 2017 NAIA Division I and Sooner Athletic Conference coach of the year awards
• Overton has coached three all-Americans while at OCU, including Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth with three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
Jeff Soderquist (309-321 , 21st season with John Brown)
• As the winningest coach in program history, Soderquist has guided the Golden Eagles to four trips to the NAIA National Championships in 2004, 2006, 2011 and 2014
• In 2013-14, the women's basketball program pieced together 28 total victories and 15 wins in Sooner Athletic Conference play, both program records
• In 2011 Soderquist was named the SAC Coach of Character
