Stars oust Mid-America Christian from SAC Tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dispatched of Mid-America Christian 25-14, 25-19, 25-13 on Tuesday night at Abe Lemons Arena in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball tournament quarterfinals.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia, powered OCU with 13 kills, two blocks and two digs. The Stars (21-6) face John Brown (Ark.) at 7 p.m. Friday in the SAC Tournament semifinals.
Stefani Nell, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., provided the Stars with 11 kills, and Sanja Vojnovic, a senior from Bijeljina, Bosnia, posted 35 assists, five digs and four aces.
Oklahoma City's Dani Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., accumulated 21 digs, while Holly Randall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., tallied eight kills and six blocks. Lindsey Grace, a senior from Edmond, Okla., contributed seven digs and two aces.
OCU closed out the first set with a 7-0 run. Nell fueled the Stars' uprising with three kills.
In the second set, the Stars broke away from an 8-8 tie with five points in a row. Nell and Randall each nailed kills, then combined on a block to key the run.
Bjelobrk smacked a pair of kills to help Oklahoma City move ahead 6-0 in the third set. Grace landed both of her aces during a 7-0 onslaught to put the Stars up 17-7.
