OCU cruises to 50-0 win over Lyon

Stars won five matches by fall Thursday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University won by fall in five of its 10 matches against Lyon (Ark.) and cruised to a 50-0 victory Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Matt Landgraff, a junior from Weeki Wachee, Fla., had a pin in 2:03 at 149 pounds. The win improved OCU to 1-1 on the season in wrestling and dropped Lyon to 0-4.
Montana Moon, a freshman from Chickasha, Okla., got the Stars started off strong in the 125-pound division by pinning his opponent 2:45 into the match. Moon earned a quick takedown at the beginning of the first period and followed with a two-point near fall.
Landgraff, ranked No. 16 in NAIA men's wrestling, had two quick takedowns and a four-point near fall before winning by fall. R.J. Walker, wrestling at 157 pounds, scored three takedowns before pinning Roger Gasmann at the 2:57 mark.
Israel Andres Villa and Gage Johnson also pinned their opponents. Villa, a freshman from Roswell, N.M., won by fall over his 184-pound opponent Raul Gonzalez at the 2:43 mark. Johnson, a freshman from Norman, Okla., took the win by fall in the heavyweight division not even two minutes into the first period.
Chase Vincent, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., earned a four-point near fall in the second period that pushed him to a 16-1 technical fall over Bruce Whitehead at 5:00.
In the 197-pound bout, Brian Buser won by decision over Jacob Hill 7-4. Buser had two big takedowns in the third period to boost him toward the victory. Brok Williams, ranked No. 11 in NAIA men's wrestling, won at 165 pounds by a 6-2 decision. Michael Sanchez, a sophomore from El Paso, Texas, won by a 4-3 decision in the 133-pound bout.
Coulton Parker, a senior from Piedmont, Okla., picked up a forfeit win at 141 pounds.
Oklahoma City next travels to Hays, Kan., for the Fort Hays State Bob Smith Open at 9 a.m. Dec. 3.
