Our Lady of the Lake hands Stars setback

OCU sees home-court win streak end at 28

OKLAHOMA CITY – Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) halted a pair of win streaks for Oklahoma City University 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 on Saturday evening at Abe Lemons Arena.
OCU's overall win string ended at 12. The Stars (17-6) dropped their first volleyball match on their home court since Nov. 8, 2014, finishing their win streak at Abe Lemons Arena at 28.
John Brown (Ark.) defeated Oklahoma City on Sept. 15 in Siloam Springs, Ark., for the Stars' last setback. Texas Wesleyan handed OCU its last home loss. Our Lady of the Lake (17-7) took its sixth consecutive win.
Holly Randall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., supplied the Stars with double-digit kills for the third consecutive contest. She delivered 14 kills and three blocks.
OCU's Sanja Vojnovic, a senior from Bajeljena, Bosnia, totaled 32 assists, eight digs and two kills, while Dani Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., accumulated 20 digs.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia, contributed nine kills and five digs, and Stefani Nell, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., added eight kills and eight digs for the Stars. Lindsey Grace, a senior from Edmond, Okla., picked up six digs.
Nell's ace gave the Stars a 15-11 third-set lead. Our Lady of the Lake answered with a 7-0 run, while OCU regained the lead with a 5-0 surge. Randall socked a kill to put the Stars ahead 20-18. Natalie Fazio knocked down a kill to rally Our Lady of the Lake to a 22-21 edge. Raven Swain provided the winning kill.
Fazio had a kill to spark Our Lady of the Lake towards three consecutive points. Our Lady of the Lake led 20-17 on the way to taking the second set.
In the first set, Nell pounded down three kills in a row to put OCU on top 19-14. Our Lady of the Lake closed out the set with a 10-2 run to overcome the Stars' 20-15 lead.
OCU hosts John Brown at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Abe Lemons Arena.
