OCU stymies St. Gregory's

Randall's 16 kills fall one kill short of her career high

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University got past St. Gregory's 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Holly Randall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., powered OCU with 16 kills and three blocks. The Stars (17-5, 12-1 Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball) earned its 12th consecutive victory.
Randall fell one kill shy of her career best of 17 at Texas Wesleyan on Oct. 7. Sanja Vojnovic, a senior from Bajeljena, Bosnia, accumulated 36 assists, 11 digs, six kills and two blocks for Oklahoma City.
Dani Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., collected 27 digs and five assists, while Stefani Nell, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., provided OCU with nine kills and 17 digs. Lindsey Grace, a senior from Edmond, Okla., picked up nine digs.
In the third set, OCU posted a 9-0 run to build a 12-4 advantage. Randall hammered three kills and combined with Vojnovic on a block to propel Oklahoma City.
The Stars erased 6-1, 9-3 and 18-13 deficits in the second set. OCU reeled off a 7-0 flurry to overcome a 20-16 hole. Randall pounded three kills and had two blocks to fuel the Stars. Randall and Vojnovic teamed on a block, then Randall nailed the tying kill. Randall's solo block put the Stars ahead 21-20.
In the first set, OCU pulled away from St. Gregory's for a 9-4 lead using a 4-0 run. Randall knocked down three of her kills to key the Stars' string.
The Stars step out of conference play to face Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) at 5 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
