Stars nab win at Panhandle State

OCU runs winning streak to nine

GOODWELL, Okla. – Oklahoma City University secured a 25-12, 25-12, 23-25, 25-9 victory over Panhandle State on Friday night at Oscar Williams Fieldhouse.
Stefani Nell, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., posted team highs with 17 kills and 15 digs to go with two aces for OCU. The Stars (14-5, 9-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) collected their ninth consecutive victory in volleyball.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia, provided the Stars with 14 kills, five blocks and three digs, while Sanja Vojnovic, a senior from Bajeljena, Bosnia, accumulated 28 assists, six digs and four aces.
OCU's Dani Chase, a senior from Yukon, Okla., amassed 13 digs and three aces, and Lacy Beeler, a freshman from Jenks, Okla., contributed eight kills, six digs and two blocks. Holly Randall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., had six kills and five blocks, while Jazmyn Body-Clark, a junior from Troutdale, Ore., recorded three kills and a team-best six blocks for the Stars.
In the fourth set, Oklahoma City reeled off a 7-0 onslaught to bring up match point at 24-9. Vojnovic landed three aces, including the one to cap the OCU run.
Oklahoma City faced Panhandle State for the first time as a conference foe in any sport.
The Stars complete their weekend road trip with an 11 a.m. contest Saturday against Wayland Baptist (Texas) in Plainview, Texas.
