Stars look to avenge 2015-16 loss in Waxahachie, Texas

THE MATCHUP:
Oklahoma City University puts its undefeated conference and road records on the line against Sooner Athletic Conference foe Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas).
 
ABOUT THE STARS: Oklahoma City trampled Mid-America Christian 103-73 on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars (12-1, 3-0 SAC) ran its winning streak to 11.
Daniela Wallen, a 5-foot-11 senior from Caracas, Venezuela, generated 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Wallen records 23.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.69 steals a game.
Daniela Galindo, a 5-10 junior from Shattuck, Okla., produced 22 points, five rebounds, four steals and four 3-pointers. Galindo has compiled 17.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.08 steals a game as well as a 43.5 percent 3-point percentage. Brooke Irwin, a 6-3 junior from Mustang, Okla., had 14 points and six rebounds. Irwin averages 10.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game with a 57.7 percent field-goal percentage.

The Stars went up to eighth in the latest rankings. OCU extended its streak of top-25 showings to 207 consecutive polls since 1999-2000. OCU owns national championships from 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014 and 2015. SAC coaches installed the Stars as the league's preseason favorite. OCU has won or shared the SAC regular-season crown 16 times.
OCU has a 5-1 record against Southwestern Assemblies of God. Southwestern Assemblies came away with a 65-52 win Feb. 6, 2016 in Waxahachie, Texas. SAGU erased OCU's three-point lead entering the fourth quarter.
 
ABOUT THE LADY LIONS: Southwestern Assemblies of God notched its first league win of the season 75-65 over St. Gregory's on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. Southwestern Assemblies of God (8-3, 1-1 SAC) overcame a five-point third-quarter deficit.
Charity Page, a 6-foot senior, lifted her team with a career-high 29 points and four blocked shots to go with 13 rebounds and three steals. Page provides the Lady Lions with 17.3 points and 10.1 rebounds a game plus a 55.9 percent shooting percentage from the floor. Kayla Blise and Lexi Rich each had 12 points. Rich, a 5-8 freshman, averages 10.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest.
Southwestern Assemblies of God leads the NAIA in 3-point percentage defense, holding opponents to 20.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc. SAGU had been expected to take seventh in the SAC.
 
ABOUT THE COACHES: Bo Overton returns to OCU for his second season as its head coach. Overton has coaching experience on the professional level in China, Russia and the WNBA, as well as college head-coaching experience with Missouri-Kansas City. Overton has been an assistant on the international level for the Bahamas and China, including the 2012 Olympics with the Chinese team.
Tiffany Phillips has a 26-17 record in her second season as Southwestern Assemblies of God coach. Phillips took Hector (Ark.), Marshall (Ark.) and Morrilton Sacred Heart (Ark.) to state-tournament appearances as a high-school head coach. Phillips had coached collegiately as an assistant at Delta State (Miss.) and Central Arkansas.
