Stars smack John Brown

18th-ranked OCU runs SAC win streak to seven

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took a 25-14, 25-15, 19-25, 25-14 victory over John Brown (Ark.) on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Manon Soraru, a junior from Mulhouse, France, produced team highs with 16 kills and five blocks for the Stars. OCU, ranked 18th in NAIA volleyball, moved to 13-3, 4-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
John Brown became the first SAC team to win a set against the Stars this season. OCU picked up its seventh consecutive league win.
Marijana Bjelobrk, a freshman from Belgrade, Serbia, posted 14 kills and nine digs, and Sanja Vojnovic, a junior from Bajeljena, Bosnia, amassed 42 assists, six digs and three aces for the Stars.
Dani Chase, a junior from Yukon, Okla., led OCU with 23 digs and four aces, while Holly Randall, a junior from Edmond, Okla., contributed seven kills and three blocks. Shekinah Clarke, a sophomore from Waianae, Hawaii, had 11 digs, two aces and two blocks for the Stars.
In the fourth and decisive set, the Stars broke an 11-11 tie by reeling off 10 consecutive points. Soraru notched three kills and combined with Clarke on a pair of blocks during OCU's 10-0 run.
Clarke gave the Stars match point at 24-12 with a service ace. Soraru clinched the win by hammering a kill.
OCU faces Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City.
