Stars gain top seed in NAIA Softball World Series

OCU faces Marian-Williams Baptist winner at 7 p.m. May 28

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University will play 7 p.m. Saturday, May 28 in the NAIA Softball World Series at the Elizabeth & Irving Jensen Softball Complex.
The Stars (61-2) meet the winner of Marian (Ind.) vs. Williams Baptist (Ark.), who play 1 p.m. Friday, May 27. OCU owns the No. 1 seed in its 29th World Series appearance.
The NAIA offers live stats and live video for all games of the World Series. A day package costs $9.95, while a tournament pass costs $29.95. Admission to the World Series games is free.
Oklahoma City has won more championships (eight) and more World Series games (114) than any other NAIA institution. Phil McSpadden has led OCU to all eight national championships, four runner-up finishes and 27 trips to the World Series in his 29th year as head coach.
McSpadden has posted a 1,539-363 record. McSpadden has more wins against four-year schools than any college softball coach. McSpadden notched career victory No. 1,500 when the Stars defeated Kansas Wesleyan 6-1 on March 4 in the Friends Tournament in Wichita, Kan.
The Stars lead the NAIA in runs scored (539), hits (692), home runs per game (1.13), runs batted in (466), slugging percentage (614), earned run average (0.88) and batters struck out (500) this year. To see how OCU compares with the rest of the NAIA statistically, click here.
