OCU cruises past St. Gregory's 12-0

Coon, Delso knock in three runs each for Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University crushed St. Gregory's 12-0 in the regular-season finale for both teams Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium.
J.J. Bissell's three-run home run capped the Stars' seven-run sixth inning. Oklahoma City (37-17, 16-8 conference) will host the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball tournament May 6-9.
In the SAC Tournament, OCU and USAO will host two four-team double-elimination brackets. The two bracket winners will meet for the championship 1 p.m. May 9 at Jim Wade Stadium. Landon Coon paced the Stars by going 2-for-4 with three runs scored, two doubles, a stolen base and two RBIs, while Dylan Delso went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. OCU's Hunter Marcum was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Joe Haddox posted a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored and a run driven in. Garrett Foster added a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and an RBI.
Skylar Janisse, Jake Carson and Carlos Chavez teamed to blank St. Gregory's on two hits and two walks. Janisse, a senior right-hander from Maidstone, Ontario, Canada, allowed two hits and a walk in five innings. Janisse (6-4) held St. Gregory's hitless through four innings before allowing Adrian Soltero's infield hit in the fifth.
Carson, a senior righty from Auburn, Wash., worked the sixth. Chavez closed out OCU's fourth shutout of the year in the seventh. 
In the third, Delso drove in OCU's first run by doubling to right field. Jared Baker followed with an RBI single to left-center field.
Foster smacked an RBI triple to right-center field in the fourth. Foster reached home plate on Joe Haddox's fly ball to right. Marcum gave OCU a 5-0 advantage, knocking in a run on a base hit to right in the fifth.
In the sixth, Haddox and Joe Lytle reached base on bunt hits to fill the bases for Coon. Coon nailed a two-run double to right to score Skyler Bean and Haddox. Delso pounded a two-run double to right to put the Stars ahead 9-0.
After Baker walked, Bissell turned on a 1-1 pitch to send the ball beyond the right-field wall and close out the scoring on the day.
The Stars scored in double digits for the 15th time and reached double figures in hits for the 32nd time this season.
