Stars sweep Dallas Christian 11-3, 11-5

Coon collects eight RBIs, while Delso hits two homers

DALLAS -- Oklahoma City University took a pair of baseball games from Dallas Christian 11-3, 11-5 on Tuesday at Dallas Christian Field.
In the first game, Dylan Delso and Skyler Bean each hit two-run home runs, while Landon Coon had a three-run homer and five RBIs in the second contest for the Stars. OCU moved to 34-17 on the season.
Delso's two-run blast put Oklahoma City on top 4-0 in the top of the third inning in the first game. Bean's two-run shot increased the Stars' lead to 10-1 in the fifth.
Coon, a senior from Dale, Okla., went 4-for-4, doubled, scored a run and drove in three runs, while Bean, a junior from Garland, Texas, was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a stolen base and two RBIs for OCU.
The Stars' J.J. Bissell, a senior from Fort Collins, Colo., was 3-for-4 with a double, steal and two runs scored, and Hunter Marcum, a senior from Purcell, Okla., went 2-for-3, scored twice, swiped two bases and drove in two runs. Delso, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., added a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored and two RBIs.
Jake Carson notched the victory to move to 5-0 this year. Carson, a senior right-hander from Auburn, Wash., allowed an unearned run on two hits with a strikeout in five innings. Chance Weinstein, a junior righty from Plano, Texas, fanned three in two innings.
In the next game, Coon hammered a three-run homer in the sixth to give OCU the lead 7-5. Delso followed with a solo shot to give the Stars an 8-5 advantage.
Coon tacked on a seventh-inning two-run double for a 10-5 OCU lead. Coon paced the Stars' attack with a 3-for-5 showing, two runs scored, a steal and five RBIs.
Jared Baker, a junior from Edmond, Okla., went 3-for-4, scored a run and had three RBIs, while Marcum went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in. Bean was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Dion Argo, a senior from Jenks, Okla., went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Grant Hamilton became the winning pitcher, improving to 4-0 in 2016. Hamilton, a senior right-hander from Oklahoma City, had a strikeout in 1.1 innings pitched. Holden Lyons, a junior righty from Edmond, Okla., fanned three in the last two innings to post his fourth save of the season.
The Stars meet St. Gregory's at 3 p.m. Friday in Shawnee, Okla.
