Stars take one-run losses in doubleheader

OCU falls to TWU in Saturday's twin bill

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University fell 3-2 and 2-1 to conference foe Texas Wesleyan in Saturday's doubleheader at The Ballpark in Grand Prairie.
Oklahoma City, ranked 13th in NAIA baseball, moved to 31-15 overall and 12-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference action. Texas Wesleyan improved to 31-14 overall and 14-4 in the SAC.
The Stars took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one. With the bases loaded, Dylan Delso hit a sacrifice fly that plated Dilon Argo. After Jared Baker drew a walk, Cory Linn singled to left field to score Joe Lytle.
Texas Wesleyan responded with two runs in the bottom half of the first inning on an OCU throwing error.
The Rams moved ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Blake Seaton hit a two-out double and scored on a Casey Moses single.
Linn, a junior from Moore, Okla., went 2-for-2 with two walks and a RBI. OCU starter Kenny Roder fell to 3-1 on the year after going six innings and striking out six batters.
Rams starter Ricky Hull pitched a complete game and struck out eight batters en route to improving to 6-2.  
Game two stayed scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning as the Rams' James Ziegler hit a two-run single.
The Stars cut Texas Wesleyan's lead to 2-1 in the top of the sixth inning. Landon Coon and Delso reached on singles, while J.J. Bissell brought Coon in to score on a single to left-center field.
Stars starter Skylar Janisse pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts as he dropped to 5-4 on the season.
TWU's Stephen Yancey received the win on six innings pitched and five strikeouts, while Alex Lopez notched the one-inning save.
Lytle, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-4 for the Stars.
OCU travels to play Southwestern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Weatherford, Okla.
