USAO deals OCU 84-76 setback

Stars remain in third place in SAC standings

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took an 84-76 loss to USAO on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Terence Bonhomme, a sophomore from St. Martinville, La., reached 30 points for the fourth time this season with 32 points and five 3-pointers. OCU dropped to 13-9, 10-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Jordan Mason, a junior from Ennis, Texas, chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and two steals. Jonathan Reed, a sophomore from Powder Springs, Ga., picked up 11 points for OCU.
Taran Buie's steal and transition bucket put USAO up 19-6 with 14:15 left in the first period.
In the second half, the Stars cut their deficit to two points on three occasions. The last time, Jamil Donovan sank a jumper with five minutes to go for a 66-64 USAO edge.
Brendan Chapman answered with a 3-point play to ignite USAO's 9-0 run.
Bonhomme sliced USAO's lead to 82-76 on a trey with 17 seconds remaining. David Tucker kept OCU at bay with free throws with 14 seconds left.
The Stars face SAC regular-season champion Texas Wesleyan at 8 p.m. Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas.
