Stars win on walk-off home run vs. Hastings

OCU picks up two wins Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University defeated Hastings (Neb.) 9-6 and cruised past McPherson (Kan.) 11-2 on Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
OCU's Cory Linn hit a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the victory. The Stars used nine sixth-inning runs to move past McPherson in the second game. Oklahoma City, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, improved to 6-6 on the year.
In the first game, the Stars moved ahead 6-4 in the fourth inning on three RBI singles and a sacrifice fly, however the Broncos tied it up at 6-6 in the top of the sixth with a RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
To start the bottom of the seventh inning, Landon Coon hit an infield single to second followed by an intentional walk of Dylan Delso. Linn hit the first pitch he saw over the left-centerfield wall for his first home run of the year.
Linn went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, while Delso finished 2-for-3 with a walk.
Rickey Parra received the win on two scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts. OCU starter Carlos Chavez stroke out eight batters in five innings, while giving up six runs.
In the second game, the Stars struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jared Baker tripled in Joe Haddox and Baker scored on a Landon Coon sacrifice fly.
McPherson scored one run in the top of the fifth and sixth inning to notch the game at 2-2.
In the bottom half of the sixth inning, Hunter Marcum hit a two-run double to left-center and Dilon Argo hit a home run in the next at-bat to put the stars up 6-2. Baker singled-in Joe Lytle, who had reached on a single in the previous at-bat, which chased the Bulldogs' starter Dylan Klava out of the game. A Ryan Rigsby walk and a Delso single loaded the bases for J.J. Bissell who drew a walk to score Baker. After another pitching change, Linn hit a RBI single and Garrett Foster stroked a two-run single to wrap up the Stars' scoring.
Baker went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Marcum finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. OCU starter Skylar Janisse earned the win on six innings, seven strikeouts and allowing four hits.
The Stars play McPherson at 10 a.m. and Hastings at 1 p.m. Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium.
