Stars try to add to banner year

OCU faces Bellevue at 7 p.m. Tuesday in NAIA Championships

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Oklahoma City University will make its second appearance ever in the NAIA volleyball championships starting with an 8 p.m. CST Tuesday match vs. Bellevue (Neb.) at the Tyson Events Center.
The 12th-ranked Stars (30-3) will meet 22nd-ranked Bellevue, unranked Mobile (Ala.) and fifth-ranked Midland (Neb.) in pool play this week. The top two teams from the pool will advance to bracket play Friday and Saturday.
Oklahoma City's contest vs. Mobile will be 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Midland match 7 p.m. Thursday. All matches from the NAIA Championships will be broadcast via live stats and video available by clicking here. See the complete pool-play schedule here. OCU will attempt to add to a banner year. The Stars bypassed the NAIA Championship Opening Round on Nov. 19 into the final site of the NAIA Championships by virtue of their highest ranking ever at No. 12.
This year, OCU has produced its first Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season championship, second SAC Tournament crown, first 30-win season since 2008 and the conference's 11th unbeaten league record at 18-0.
Manon Soraru of the Stars became the SAC hitter of the year, SAC most valuable player and SAC Tournament MVP. Soraru, a junior from Mulhouse, France, ranks second in the NAIA with a .420 hitting percentage while recording 3.56 kills, 0.55 blocks and 0.33 aces per set this season.
OCU's Sanja Vojnovic took league setter of the year, Marijana Bjelobrk picked up SAC freshman of the year and Kyle Steele scooped up conference coach of the year.
