Stars pummel Southwestern Assemblies of God

13th-ranked OCU improves to 12-0 in league play

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 25-14, 25-17, 25-15 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Friday at the Schaeffer Center.
Shekinah Clarke, a sophomore from Waianae, Hawaii, posted 10 kills and five digs for the Stars. OCU, ranked 13th in NAIA volleyball, moved to 21-3, 12-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Sanja Vojnovic, a junior from Bajeljena, Bosnia, produced 37 assists, and Dani Chase, a junior from Yukon, Okla., tallied 11 digs for Oklahoma City.
The Stars' Manon Soraru, a junior from Mulhouse, France, added seven kills and three digs, while Holly Randall, a junior from Edmond, Okla., contributed six kills and two blocks. Fia Faa'agi, a sophomore from Murrieta, Calif., knocked down six kills, and Caitlin Chamness, a junior from Littleton, Colo., had four kills, four aces and two digs.
Faa'agi smacked kills to start and cap a 7-0 first-set run. Faa'agi's kill gave the Stars a 23-12 advantage.
OCU reeled off a 9-2 splurge in the third set. Clarke nailed two kills in the surge including a kill that concluded the run and put the Stars ahead 19-9.
The Stars meet Texas Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.
