John Brown hands OCU first conference loss of season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University received its first loss in Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball play on Saturday to John Brown (Ark.) 75-64 at the Abe Lemons Arena.
Noel Allen, a senior from Gutenberg, N.J., had a season-high 20 points leading the Stars, while adding eight rebounds and two steals. Oklahoma City dropped to 6-4, 3-1 in conference play.
With 11:23 left to play in the second half, OCU's Jonathan Reed stole the ball and missed a layup, but Dorion Gigger was there for a putback dunk to cut the Golden Eagles lead to 42-41. Less than a minute later, the Stars' Terence Bonhomme picked the pocket of a JBU player and missed a layup. Gigger's follow tip-in gave the Stars their first and only lead of the second half 43-42.
The Golden Eagles retook the lead by six points before Gigger tied the game at 51-51 with a free throw at the 6:23 mark.
John Brown outscored Oklahoma City 24-13 from that point on to close out the game.
Gigger, a junior from Oklahoma City, led the Stars in rebounds with 14, while adding 13 points. Reed, a sophomore from Powder Springs, Ga., had a season-high 11 points and three steals.
