MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Oklahoma City University men's basketball team won their third Sooner Athletic Conference game of the season against Bacone 91-77 on Thursday at the Palmer Center.
Terence Bonhomme, a sophomore from St. Martinville, La., spearheaded the Stars win with a team-high 19 points and five steals, while having a share of the team-high in rebounds with seven. The Stars improved to 6-3 (3-0 SAC).
Oklahoma City led Bacone 48-37 at the halfway mark.
Dorion Gigger, a junior from Oklahoma City, converted a Warriors turnover into a fastbreak layup to extend the Stars lead to 78-63 with 4:42 left in the second half. After a timeout, Lou Dunbar, a sophomore from Seabrook, Texas, nailed a 3-pointer to lengthen the Stars lead to 81-63 with 3:55 left to play.
Gigger finished with 14 points, six rebounds and a block, while Dunbar tallied 14 points and three rebounds.
Evan White, a senior from San Antonio, netted 15 points, while shooting 3-for-5 from the 3-point territory.
Brandon Chatman led the Warriors with 18 points, while Geo Brewer contributed 16 points. Bacone dropped to 1-13 (0-3 SAC).
The Stars shot 51 percent from the field and held the Warriors to 44 percent shooting. Oklahoma City outrebounded Bacone 36-22.
OCU is back in action against John Brown (Ark.) at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
