Stars fall 87-74 to West Texas A&M

OCU drops game against West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas - The Oklahoma City University men's basketball team dropped an 87-74 decision to West Texas A&M on Saturday at the First United Bank Center.
Terence Bonhomme, a sophomore from St. Martinville, La., racked up a collegiate career-high 30 points, while adding three rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Stars. OCU dropped to 5-3, while West Texas A&M improved to 11-5 on the season.
Bonhomme made 9 of 10 free throws and shot 3-for-6 from 3-point land.
In the last minute of the first half, the Stars' Evan White hit a 3 to cut the Buffs lead to 45-41 at halftime.
Bonhomme hit a jumper in the paint to bring the game within two points with 8:07 left in the second half, but the Buffs responded by going on a 14-0 run to extend the lead to 84-70.
White, a senior from San Antonio, finished with eight points, two blocks and three rebounds.
Noel Allen, a senior from Gutenberg, N.J., led the Stars with eight rebounds and added six points.
West Texas A&M converted 23 points off of the Stars' 20 turnovers, while OCU scored 14 points off of the Buffs' 12 turnovers.
The Stars shot 47.1 percent from the field compared to the Buffs 37.5 percent.
The Buffs amassed 42 points off the bench, while the Stars only scored 17 points from the bench.
The Stars resume Sooner Athletic Conference play against Bacone at 8 p.m. Thursday in Muskogee, Okla.
