OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took a 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Tori Leisure, a senior from Haslet, Texas, topped the Stars with 13 kills. OCU improved to 7-3 and 1-0 at home in volleyball.
Leisure made 24 attacks without an error, hit .542 and notched three blocks, two solo. Manon Soraru, a sophomore from Mulhouse, France, provided the Stars with 11 kills and two aces, and Stefani Nell, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., recorded nine kills and 10 digs.
Oklahoma City's Hannah Mitcham, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas, piled up 35 assists and seven digs, while Fia Faa'agi, a freshman from Murietta, Calif., generated nine kills. Dani Chase, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., scooped 16 digs, and Caitlin Chamness, a sophomore from Littleton, Colo., served up three aces for the Stars.
In the first set, OCU overcame 9-5 and 11-8 deficits. The Stars reeled off six points in a row as Jami-Rae Renwick smacked a kill and Soraru had an ace. Nell contributed two kills while OCU scored four points in a row to pick up a 21-18 advantage.
The Stars closed the second set with the final four points. Soraru hammered a kill, and Leisure posted two kill and a block.
Soraru socked the match-clinching kill for OCU.
The Stars resumes Sooner Athletic Conference play 7 p.m. Tuesday at Southwestern Christian in Bethany, Okla.
