OCU snags two wins in Baker Invitational

Leisure tops Stars with 25 kills Friday

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Oklahoma City University took two victories in the Baker Invitational on Friday at the Collins Center.
The Stars knocked off tournament host Baker (Kan.) 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-14, then dispatched Graceland (Iowa) 25-27, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18. OCU improved to 3-2 in volleyball this year.
Against Baker, Tori Leisure supplied OCU with 15 kills and six blocks, while Stefani Nell notched 10 kills and 21 digs. Shekinah Clarke added nine kills and four blocks, and Dani Chase scooped 21 digs. Hannah Mitcham dished out 40 assists for Oklahoma City.
In the match against Graceland, Leisure, a senior from Haslet, Texas, posted 10 kills and six blocks for OCU. Chase, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., picked up 24 digs, and Fia Faa'agi, a freshman from Murrieta, Calif., added nine kills and two blocks.
Manon Soraru, a sophomore from Mulhouse, France, provided the Stars with nine kills and three blocks, while Nell, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., had 12 digs. Mitcham, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas, piled up 38 assists, while Lindsey Grace chipped in 11 digs. Heather Watson served up four aces.
The Stars take on Ottawa (Kan.) at 9 a.m., then 12th-ranked Northwestern (Iowa) at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Baker Invitational.
