OCU beats Bacone in straight sets

Stars conclude regular-season with best conference record in program history.

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University posted a 25-20, 25-16, 25-16 victory in the last regular-season match of 2015 over Bacone on Wednesday at the Palmer Center.
Manon Soraru, a sophomore from Mulhouse, France guided OCU with 13 kills. The Stars improved to 19-7 and 14-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball. Oklahoma City finished with its best conference record in program history.
Tori Leisure, a senior from Halset, Texas, had a team-high four blocks with eight kills and an assist.
Senior setters Hannah Mitcham, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Heather Watson, of Edmond, Okla., dished out 14 and 15 assists, respectively.
Dani Chase, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., tallied a team-high 18 digs.
Holly Randall, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla, notched four kills and four digs, while Fia Faa'agi added four kills and three digs.
Jami-Rae Renwick, of Emerald Park, Saskatchewan, Canada, provided OCU with five kills and three digs.
The Stars trailed 18-14 in the first set but went on an 11-2 run to finish off the frame.
The second set ended with four straight OCU points. Caitlin Chamness, a sophomore from Littleton, Colo., recorded two of the four points via service aces to put the set away.
The Stars' Mandy Martincich's kill to put OCU ahead 19-15 sparked a six-point Stars surge to pull away from Bacone 24-15. Soraru sealed the set and match with a kill.
Bacone dropped to 1-28 on the season, 0-15 in SAC play.
The SAC tournament pairings will be released at the conclusion of the regular-season.
