Stars take 90-67 loss to Central Oklahoma

OCU gets 37 points from its bench

EDMOND, Okla. – Central Oklahoma used a second-half surge to knock off Oklahoma City University 90-67 on Friday at Hamilton Field House in the Central Oklahoma Thanksgiving Classic.
Jordan Mason and Jonathan Reed each had 10 points to lead Oklahoma City. The Stars went to 1-1 in men's basketball.
Reed, a sophomore from Powder Springs, Ga., grabbed two steals. Noel Allen, a senior from Guttenberg, N.J., produced eight points and seven rebounds, and Terence Bonhomme, a sophomore from St. Martinville, La., recorded eight points, two assists and two steals for the Stars.
Oklahoma City's subs scored 37 points. Andrew Akaji, a freshman from Belleview, Fla., added seven points and six rebounds off the bench.
The Stars erased 10-3 and 15-9 deficits in the first period. OCU put together an 8-0 run, going up 17-15 on Lou Dunbar's 3-pointer with 14:16 showing. Dunbar nailed two treys sandwiched around Bonhomme's layup. Mason had a lay-in for a 19-16 OCU lead.
Allen's jumper in the lane gave the Stars a 41-38 edge with 1:10 to go in the first. OCU led 41-40 at halftime.
Dorion Gigger nailed a 3 to put Oklahoma City in front 45-44 at the 17:32 mark. Central Oklahoma answered with a 9-0 run as Jordan London had a layup and a 3-pointer. London sank a trey to push Central's lead into double digits at 56-46 with 15:13 remaining.
The Stars face Oklahoma Christian at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton Field House.
