OCU puts down St. Gregory’s 92-75

Stars dish out 22 assists in game

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University topped St. Gregory's 92-75 on Saturday at W.P. Wood Field House.
R.J. McGhee, a senior from Baton Rouge La., led the way for the Stars with 26 points, three rebounds and two assists off the bench. OCU went to 8-6, 4-4 Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball.
Gary Inglett, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., generated his seventh career double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Tharone Chilton, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., produced his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and six assists.
The Stars jumped out to a 49-28 lead to head into halftime. OCU assisted on 13-of-16 field goals in the half. Oklahoma City help St. Gregory to 32.1 percent shooting and owned a 33-13 rebound advantage. OCU generated a 21-point lead with 36 seconds showing on the clock in the first half.
Oklahoma City led by 22 with 7:14 remaining until St. Gregory reeled off a 7-0 run to pull within 15. The Stars responded with a 5-0 run of their own to keep St. Gregory's out of reach.
The Stars owned a 61-34 rebounding advantage while dishing out 22 assists.
"I'm proud of our guys, especially when you look at the rebounds," OCU coach Dionne Phelps said. "It showed that we were very aggressive and that's what we needed to do."
Oklahoma City returns to action on 8 p.m. Thursday at John Brown (Ark.) in Siloam Springs, Ark.
