Last-minute points not enough in Stars' 78-74 loss to OBU

OCU loses third straight

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Baptist ended the game on a 5-0 run to win 78-74 over Oklahoma City University on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Jamil Donovan hit two free throws to give Oklahoma City a one-point lead with 1:38 left on the clock. The Stars fell to 6-6, 2-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball.
Gary Inglett, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Evan White, a junior from San Antonio, dropped in 14 points, while Donovan, a junior from Oklahoma City, added 12 points and five assists.
"He has to do that every night," OCU coach Dionne Phelps said of Inglett. "We are calling on him a lot. The kind of production he is giving us right now, he's going to have to continue to do it."
OCU built a 21-5 lead early by hitting 10 of its first 13 shots. Oklahoma Baptist, ranked seventh in the NAIA, committed five turnovers during that time. Oklahoma Baptist took a three-point lead into the locker room.
The Stars trailed by as many as six in the second half, but chiseled their way back into the game. OCU tied the game four times in the last nine minutes of play. Donovan's free throws gave the Stars their only lead of the second half and their last points of the game.
"We have to find a way to win games, and tonight we just didn't do it," Phelps said.
OCU hosts Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) 8 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
