Stars trample St. Gregory's 103-54

OCU has highest scoring output of 2013-14

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University mauled St. Gregory's 103-54 on Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Yvonte Neal, a junior from Spring Valley, Calif., led six Stars in double-figure scoring with 21 points. OCU, ranked sixth in NAIA Division I women's basketball, improved to 17-3, 14-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Neal finished with five rebounds and six assists. Ouleymatou Coulibaly, a junior from Bamako, Mali, West Africa, produced 19 points, six rebounds and three steals, and Kayla MacKenzie, a senior from Peoria, Ariz., supplied the Stars with 17 points, seven assists and four steals.
Autumn Huffman, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., added 14 points and two steals, while Autumn Lau, a senior from Mount Wolf, Pa., notched her team-high seventh double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals for OCU. The Stars' Cara Pugh, a senior from Oklahoma City, pitched in 10 points and three 3-pointers.
OCU scored a season-high 103 points, topping 100 points for the third time this season. The Stars equaled their season best with 25 assists while limiting their turnovers to 11. St. Gregory's (2-20, 1-15 SAC) dropped its 10th in a row.
"We shared the ball tonight," OCU coach Latricia Trammell said. "They had fun. I can't say enough about our bench because they kept the wheels turning."
The Stars piled up a 17-0 run during a 28-2 spree in the first half. St. Gregory's went without a field goal for 16:16 during the period. The visitors shot 20 percent from the field in the first half. St. Gregory's finished with a 30.4 field-goal percentage and 25 turnovers in the game.
Neal tallied 10 points as OCU increased its lead from 18-6 to 35-6. Markeisha Johnson hit free throws to put the Stars up 46-8 with 4:04 left in the first. St. Gregory's reached double digits in scoring on Tori Huff's 3-pointer with 2:36 remaining in the period.
MacKenzie's trey put the Stars over 50 points at 51-15 with 1:34 to go in the first half.
The Stars square off with USAO at 6 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
