SHAWNEE, Okla. – Terry Johnson canned a 3-pointer with 4.7 seconds left to bring Oklahoma City University a 66-65 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday at the Noble Complex.
R.J. McGhee, a senior from Baton Rouge, La., led OCU with 20 points. The Stars improved to 8-6, 4-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball.
Johnson, a senior from Chicago, tallied 14 of his 17 points in the second half. Jamaal Crayton, a senior from Augusta, Ga., pitched in 14 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Stars. Kaleb Smith assisted on Johnson's game-winning basket as OCU swung the ball around the perimeter before Johnson sank the trey from the left wing.
"The one thing that we wanted to do is continue to do what we were doing, and that was spread them out a little bit and see if we could find a great look," OCU coach Dionne Phelps said. "We were fortunate that we swung the ball a couple of times, and Kaleb was wide open. The way he has been shooting it, he demands a little bit of respect. They decided they were going to show it to him. I'm glad he did the right thing. He had a good look, and he found Terry Johnson, who had a great look. That's what we were trying to do, find the best look we can. I have a lot of confidence in him, but I think his teammates have a lot of confidence in him, too. It was a great look, and fortunately, it went in."
OCU had not won at Oklahoma Baptist during the regular season since a 70-68 win Feb. 15, 2007. The Stars has lost six consecutive regular-season meetings to OBU in Shawnee, Okla. The lead changed 15 times, five times in the final three minutes of the game.

Cale Jackson's 3 tied the game 57-57 at the three-minute mark, but Johnson answered with a jumper in the lane. Darst tied the game again, then his OBU teammate Morris Woods hit a free throw for a 60-59 edge with 1:47 to go.
Crayton connected of a jump shot in the paint for a 61-60 OCU lead with 1:25 left before Aaron Abram's basket put OBU back on top 62-61 at 1:07 left.
The Stars erased Oklahoma Baptist's eight-point advantage midway through the second half. With OCU down 50-42, Dorion Gigger had free throws to start an 11-0 Stars run.
Dema Sane scored on a putback, then Johnson dropped in a free throw and two jumpers. Johnson's second jumper put OCU in front 51-50 with 7:13 remaining. McGhee capped the OCU splurge by pocketing a steal, then throwing down a two-handed slam dunk.
