Stars dispatch St. Gregory's in three sets

OCU notches seventh three-set victory of season

Tori Leisure provided OCU with six kills and two blocks Tuesday.
Box Score SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University pounded St. Gregory's 25-18, 25-15, 25-10 on Tuesday at W.P. Fieldhouse.
Rachel Gabel, a sophomore from Richardson, Texas, propelled the Stars with her 10 kills, nine digs and two blocks. OCU improved to 9-6, 2-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Kristen Macy, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., added nine kills, seven kills and four aces, while Danielle Robison, a senior from Dallas, posted nine digs and two aces for the Stars.
Hannah Mitcham, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, produced 18 assists, three digs and three kills, and Heather Watson, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., picked up 10 assists and five digs for OCU.
OCU finished the first set with a 5-1 run. Gabel had a kill and an ace, while Macy hammered down two kills in the Stars' surge.
Macy powered the Stars' 7-1 spree to clinch the second set by serving up three aces in a row. Mitcham and Delainey Messenger teamed on a block to bring up set point.
The Stars racked up the final four points of the match. Macy nailed back-to-back kills, then Robison's ace provided OCU match point. Macy and Tori Leisure combined on a block to sew up the contest.
OCU takes on Texas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.
