BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Oklahoma City University started the season with two victories in the Coastal Georgia Mariner Invitational on Friday at Brunswick High School, defeating Faulkner (Ala.) 25-20, 25-14, 25-11 and Southeastern (Fla.) 27-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19.
The Stars improved to 3-0 under coach Nikki Dieball in season openers. OCU has won its past five season-opening matches.
Kristen Macy spearheaded OCU with 12 kills against Faulkner. Macy, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., made her collegiate debut.
Against Southeastern, Macy and Rachel Gabel pounded down 15 kills each. Gabel and Danielle Robison scooped up 20 digs each.
OCU faces Webber International (Fla.) at 7 a.m. CDT, then Coastal Georgia at 1 p.m. Saturday in Brunswick, Ga. Watch the tournament via live video stream.
