OCU thumps Bethel, Harris-Stowe

Stars go 3-1 in Avila Classic, improve to 6-8 on year

Anna Gentry produced 14 assists, 13 digs and three aces Saturday for the Stars.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University concluded the Avila Classic with three wins, crushing Harris-Stowe (Mo.) 25-8, 25-9, 25-12 on Saturday at the Mabee Fieldhouse.
The Stars trounced Bethel (Kan.) 25-12, 25-16, 25-21 earlier Saturday. OCU improved to 6-8.
Against Harris-Stowe, Meghan Irwin led OCU with 12 kills while adding three digs and a block. Tori Leisure produced nine kills and two blocks.
Heather Watson provided the Stars 19 assists and four kills, while Hannah Mitcham dished out 11 assists. Danielle Robison recorded 18 digs and six aces, and Kelley Shiels scooped 11 digs.
Anna Gentry added eight digs and three aces, and Maggie Vickers contributed five digs and two aces.
Against Bethel, Irwin nailed 16 kills to go with two blocks. Torrie Flynn posted seven kills, five blocks and two digs for the Stars.
Mitcham amassed 21 assists and eight digs, and Gentry accumulated 14 assists and five digs for OCU. Rachel Gabel chipped in six kills and six digs, while Vickers had four digs and four aces. Robison notched 17 digs and three aces.
OCU faces St. Gregory's at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Shawnee, Okla.
