Stars pound Haskell in three sets

OCU goes 1-1 in Avila Classic with setback to Sioux Falls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University knocked off Haskell (Kan.) 25-11, 25-18, 27-25 on Friday at the Mabee Fieldhouse in the Avila Classic.
The Stars lost to Sioux Falls (S.D.) 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 earlier Friday. OCU went to 4-8.
Against Haskell, Meghan Irwin topped OCU with 17 kills and three blocks. Torrie Flynn chipped in 11 kills.
Hannah Mitcham dished out 36 assists with six digs, and Danielle Robison picked up 21 digs for the Stars. Heather Watson contributed six digs, while Anna Gentry and Maggie Vickers each served up two aces.
Against Sioux Falls, Irwin posted 18 kills and two blocks, while Flynn added nine kills and four blocks.
Rachel Gabel recorded eight kills and seven digs, and Tori Leisure hammered down eight kills for OCU.
Mitcham accumulated 41 assists and four digs, and Robison notched 12 digs for the Stars. Vickers provided OCU nine digs.
OCU continues play in the Avila Classic on Saturday, meeting Bethel (Kan.) at 11 a.m. and Harris-Stowe (Mo.) at 5 p.m.
