Watson's 20 leads Stars in 69-52 victory over Auburn-Montgomery

JACKSON, Tenn. – Oklahoma City University collected its third consecutive NAIA Division I women's basketball championship, triumphing over Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) 69-52 on Tuesday before about 3,000 at Oman Arena.
Kesha Watson scored 20 points to lead the Stars, while Jhudy Gonzalez added 17 points. Jessica Rhoten contributed 12 points for OCU. Taiwo Rafiu had six points in the game, but was named tournament most valuable player.
The Stars (35-2) led by as many as 27 points. OCU won by 17 even though Auburn-Montgomery mounted a 14-4 run in the final three minutes.
“I'm so excited for these girls,” OCU coach Janell Jones said. “We worked all year on instilling a belief in the new system. They went out and accomplished what they wanted. They are wonderful, wonderful girls.”
