OCU vs. St. Gregory's men's basketball preview

Tim Morton averages 10.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Stars.

THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University continues Sooner Athletic Conference play with a home matchup against St. Gregory's.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students, while OCU students, faculty and staff are allowed into all regular-season OCU athletics events for free with their ID.
 
ABOUT THE STARS: The Stars were handed their first double-digit loss of the season by fourth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist Thursday at the Noble Center in Shawnee, Okla. The loss drops OCU to 9-10 overall and 6-9 in SAC play.
Senior Shane Rogers posted a season-high 17 points against the Bison. The 6-foot-4 guard shot 70 percent from the floor and hit 3-of-4 from 3-point range in 38 minutes of action. Rogers averages 8.3 points per contest on 41 percent shooting from the field.
Forward Orlan Jackman added 11 points on the night. The senior from London totals 13.3 points and 8.3 boards per game, and leads the Stars in scoring and rebounding. Jackman is ranked 16th in NAIA Division I in offensive rebounds per game, grabbing 3.4 per outing.
Troynell Adams, of Chicago, chipped in with 10 points against Oklahoma Baptist. The junior guard added three rebounds, an assists and a steal in 23 minutes of work. Adams has scored in double figures on five occasions this season including a pair of 16-point performances against Mid-America Christian and Wayland Baptist (Texas).

The Stars were unranked in the latest NAIA Division I poll, and currently sit in ninth place in the SAC standings. OCU was picked to finish seventh in the conference in the preseason.
OCU owns a 31-0 all-time record against St. Gregory's. In their last meeting, the Stars crushed the Cavaliers 98-63 at Abe Lemons Arena on Feb. 17, 2011.
 
ABOUT THE CAVALIERS: St. Gregory's fell 80-64 to John Brown (Ark.) at W.P. Wood Fieldhouse on Jan 26. With the loss the Cavaliers dropped to 4-15 overall and 1-12 in SAC play.
Forward Pud Ross led the way with 15 points and six rebounds against John Brown. Ross averages five points per contest and has posted double-digit points four times this season.
Ronnie Hishaw pitched in with 15 points off the bench. The forward averages 8.5 points per game on 42 percent shooting from the field.
Leading scorer Fayzon Richey added 11 points in the 80-64 loss. Richey averages 19.8 points per contest and is second in the SAC in scoring.
The Cavaliers sit in 12th place in the SAC standings, and were picked to finish 12th in the preseason.
 
ABOUT THE COACHES: Dionne Phelps is in the midst of his first season as a head coach with OCU. Phelps took over the Stars after serving as assistant coach for Oklahoma, which featured future No. 1 NBA Draft pick Blake Griffin during his tenure. Phelps has been a part of four conference title teams as well as three NCAA Tournament teams during his 22-year coaching career. Phelps played for Texas Lutheran, eventually joining the Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame.
John Martin is in his fourth season as head coach of the Cavaliers with an 18-83 overall record since taking the helm. Martin played college basketball at St. Gregory's, when it was a junior college, and OCU.
